How does home automation work? When speaking about home automation systems, “BUS system” usually means a group of devices connected to one single communication channel. The main function of a BUS is to physically and logically connect the devices in easier way to minimize the number of wires and the time required to fully transfer the information between one device and another one.
Each device has the ability to send and receive sequential electrical signals which represent information or messages codified in accordance with a certain protocol (DOMINA plus home automation uses the “open” protocol AVEbus). The message receiver is identified by its address, which is an integral part of each message. A special configuration procedure, normally performed by software, assigns to each device its own address.
